Introduction

Scheduled maintenance is vital for optimal utilization, availability and performance of the resources in your IT environment.

  • It includes software updates, system patches, database maintenance, hardware checks, planned shutdown, etc.
  • It helps you mitigate unexpected outages, disruptions, equipment failure. It involves planned activities to ensure security, reliability, and optimal performance of the resources.
  • Scheduled maintenance may be a one-time task or a recurring one.

Create and manage scheduled maintenance on the managed resources in your IT environment.

Following are the actions you can perform on a scheduled maintenance:

  • Create - Create a scheduled maintenance.
  • View - View the scheduled maintenance details.
  • Edit - Edit pending scheduled maintenance.
  • Create Copy - Create a copy of an existing scheduled maintenance.
  • Suspend - Suspend an active scheduled maintenance.
  • End - End an active scheduled maintenance window.
  • Resume - Resume a suspended maintenance window.
  • Remove - Remove a pending or completed maintenance window.

Create a scheduled maintenance

Follow these steps to create a scheduled maintenance:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Account. The Account Details page is displayed.

  2. Click the Scheduled Maintenance tile.

  3. Click on +Add from the Scheduled Maintenance page.

  4. Enter the following details under Assigned Resources:

    • All Resources: Select this option if you want to assign all the resources in the client.
    • Selected Resources: Select this option if you want to manually assign resources. Scheduled maintenance will be created for all the selected resources.
      You can use any of the options - Manually Assigned Resources, Resource Groups, or Sites, or a combination of them.
      • Manually Assigned Resources: Select the resources from the dropdown. You can also use the Advanced Search link to select resources:
        1. Click the Advanced Search link and click on +Query and build a query.
        2. Select the resources and click on Apply Selection.
          Note: A maximum of 50 resources can be selected.
      • Resource Groups: Select the resource group(s) from the dropdown.
        Note: A maximum of 50 groups can be selected.
      • Sites: Select the site(s) from the dropdown.
        Note: A maximum of 50 sites can be selected.

  5. Enter the following details under Maintenance Window Details:

    • Name: Enter a scheduled maintenance name.
    • Description: Enter the reason for the maintenance.
    • Schedule: Select the required schedule recurrence and enter the details:
      • One-time
      • Daily
      • Weekly
      • Monthly
    • Settings: Select the required option(s).

  6. Click on Add Maintenance Window. The Scheduled Maintenance is created and displayed on the Scheduled Maintenance listing page.

Use the search box to search for the newly created Scheduled Maintenance.

The Scheduled Maintenance listing page displays the following information:

Column NameDescription
NameScheduled Maintenance name.
DescriptionDescription of the Scheduled Maintenance.
Displays a clock tooltip. Hover over the tooltip to view the schedule information.
ResourcesNumber of resources assigned to the scheduled maintenance. Click on the number to view the details.
Resource GroupsNumber of resource groups assigned to the scheduled maintenance. Click on the number to view the details.
SitesNumber of sites assigned to the scheduled maintenance. Click on the number to view the details.
Alert ConditionsDisplays Yes if any alert condition is defined. Displays No if no alert condition is defined.
Escalate AlertsDisplays Yes if the option to escalate maintenance alerts when window ends is selected during the schedule maintenance creation process.
Correlate AlertsDisplays Yes if the option to Correlate all open alerts when window ends is selected during the schedule maintenance creation process.

Actions on scheduled maintenance

Below are the actions you can perform on a scheduled maintenance.

View DetailsTo view scheduled maintenance details:
  1. Use the search option to search for the scheduled maintenance and click on the scheduled maintenance name.
    Alternatively, hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right and select View Details.
Create CopyTo create a copy:
  1. Search for the scheduled maintenance.
  2. Hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right.
  3. Select Create Copy.
  4. Make the required changes in the fields.
  5. Click on Save.
EditNote: You can edit only pending scheduled maintenance.
To edit:
  1. Click on the dropdown available on the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Pending. All the pending schedule maintenance records are displayed.
  3. Search for the scheduled maintenance and click on the scheduled maintenance name.
    Alternatively, hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right and select View Details.
  4. Make the required changes in the fields.
  5. Click on Save.
SuspendYou can suspend an active scheduled maintenance.
To suspend:
  1. Click on the dropdown available on the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Active. All the active schedule maintenance records are displayed.
  3. Search for the scheduled maintenance.
  4. Hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right and select Suspend.
  5. You have the option to either suspend the maintenance window now or for a specific time period. By default, the Suspend Now option is selected.
  6. To set the date range from the calendar, clear the Suspend Now check box and click on Set Date Range and select the date range. To set it only for one day, disable the End Date option and select the date. Click on Apply.
  7. Click on Suspend.
EndYou can end an active scheduled maintenance.
To end:
  1. Click on the dropdown available on the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Active. All the active schedule maintenance records are displayed.
  3. Search for the scheduled maintenance.
  4. Hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right and select End.
  5. Click on End. The selected active maintenance window is ended and marked as Complete.
ResumeYou can resume a suspended maintenance window.
To resume:
  1. Click on the dropdown available on the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Suspended. All the suspended schedule maintenance records are displayed.
  3. Search for the scheduled maintenance.
  4. Hover over the row and click on the action (three dots) icon that appears on the right and select Resume.
  5. Click on Resume. The maintenance window is resumed for all the associated resources.
RemoveYou can remove a pending or completed maintenance window.
To remove:
  1. Click on the dropdown available on the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. Select the required option - Pending or Completed. Based on the option selected, the schedule maintenance records are displayed.
  3. Search for the scheduled maintenance.
  4. Hover over the row and click on the action icon that appears on the right and select Remove.
  5. Click on Remove. The maintenance window is removed permanently.
